Admitting you’re wrong takes guts. The Brazilian beer brand Skol put a new spin on their ads from the past. In a video for its latest campaign, “Reposter,” it openly shares previous ads in which sexy women are pretty flagrantly used as product bait. (Of course, this is par for the course in the history of many beer brands.)
Six female illustrators were asked to rethink past brand messaging in a way that would celebrate female diversity rather than commodify it. Instead of showing women serving the beer the illustrators showed the women as the consumer. The illustrators animated the magazine ads into gifs and posted them across social channels creating incredible engagement.
Brands evolve and we think this is such a clever way of taking past content and propelling it into the future with a new positive message.
