New feature alert: Instagram recently added a countdown sticker to Stories, allowing users to incorporate an interactive countdown to their posts. For instance, brands and consumers alike will be able to build anticipation for a launch, exclusive drop, sales, and more.

Instagram has announced the launch of three new shopping tools for brands to push products to their audiences this holiday season and beyond. Each shopping feature has been designed to help give brands the edge they need to drive conversion (and ultimately advertise on the platform).

Instagram is fighting back against fake followers, comments, and likes. Instagram has always removed fake followers, but likes and comments will be a first for the platform. Any fake engagement from accounts that use third-party services to get more engagement will be removed for violating the platform’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. They also announced they created a moderation tool that will help identify which accounts use these services and automatically remove the likes, followers and comments. Users or Brand pages who have violated these guidelines will be notified and will also be asked to change their passwords in which many third-party apps are able to hack.

What’s the first thing you see when you click on a new Instagram account? The bio. Which arguable makes it the most important factor to consider when building your brand. Instagram has been working on a feature that would allow users to preview IGTV clips within their Stories. There are currently 400 million active monthly users on Instagram engaging with Stories. It has been revealed that only a fraction of these people are actually engaging with IGTV. Instagram is finally allowing users to post a preview, with a button that would directly link the user to a specific IGTV video. This new way of promoting your IGTV videos could bridge the vast engagement gap between IGTV and stories. IGTV has been a feature that few users have mastered, and that marketers have been very skeptical about, but the new update aims to turn that around. We feel that IGTV and features like this will soon become the way consumers will digest long-form episodic content.

Finally—Twitter is switching back to chronological timelines… if you want. After changing the timeline to show “best tweets first”, it received mixed reactions. Many tweeters were not happy with the non-chronological timeline, leading Twitter to making it an optional feature.
