Instagram is fighting back against fake followers, comments, and likes. Instagram has always removed fake followers, but likes and comments will be a first for the platform. Any fake engagement from accounts that use third-party services to get more engagement will be removed for violating the platform’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Use. They also announced they created a moderation tool that will help identify which accounts use these services and automatically remove the likes, followers and comments. Users or Brand pages who have violated these guidelines will be notified and will also be asked to change their passwords in which many third-party apps are able to hack.
Like with Twitter’s crackdown on bots, fraudulent activity is being heavily monitored on social platforms, in order to protect the integrity of its ads business and overall security. Our advice to any client is to always keep it honest and earn followers, don’t buy them.
