As expected, social media apps are seeing a rise in usage over the past couple of weeks due to the quarantine of COVID-19.

Since the beginning of COVID-19, social media apps like Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn have been rolling out new features to their platforms to help users during this time. Facebook is now rolling out a new gift card listing for small businesses to utilize. Gift card registries will be available via special newsfeed prompt allowing businesses the opportunity to stay afloat while they're closed. This feature began rolling out across the U.S. late last week.

What drew us to them was their unique product offering and how they have carved out their own corner of the market to be industry leaders. On February 11th, Snapchat announced a new mental health resource called Here for You, which is the first product launch around their larger health and wellness push to be rolled out over the next few months. Here for You is designed to provide “proactive in-app support [for those] who may be experiencing mental health or emotional crisis, or who may be curious to learn more about these issues and how they can help friends dealing with them.”

The platform that has already gained millions of users from its launch in 2016, TikTok is expanding and providing new updates for its users. While TikTok content was primarily captured on mobile devices only, the company has announced that it will be providing an option to upload via Desktop.

IGTV has been a huge focus for Instagram since it's launch but it has not been as popular as Instagram Stories. The app is looking to change that. It is now in the testing stage of launching the new option to monetize IGTV videos.

Byte, Vine's second coming is now available to download on iOS and Android. This app, announced in 2017, will be similar to its originator allowing for short-form, 6-second uploads.

Recently, Instagram has announced the addition of three new creative Boomerang modes, including the ability to “trim and tweak your Boomerang.”
